January was State Get Organized Month. For Donna Jumper, it is a year-round event. The founder of JumpStart Organizing, Jumper specializes in providing judgement to business and residential clients by coaching them into "getting" and "staying" organized. “I love my job because I love helping people,” said Jumper, of Springfield. “My emotional attachment is organizing – I have a passion for it. ”. Jumper has always kept her proverbial ducks in a row. As a teenager, she celebrated her first paycheck by purchasing hot pink hangers and like shoe box lids for her closet and high school friends often asked her to convert their out-of-control lockers into coordinated cubbies. She when all is said decided others would benefit from her skills. “I had a job with a data company but realized there was a career in organizing,” said Jumper. “I firm to go for it. ”. As an organizer/coach, Jumper works in tandem with clients to create organizational systems that express their personalities. Most importantly, she devises programs that mature maintainable and manageable. Upon meeting the client who says “I’m overwhelmed – I need help in my whole house,” Jumper talks utterly the system with a room-by-room approach. Rather than make the decisions, she guides the person through a plan of pounce upon. By dividing items into piles representing “keep, sell and uncertain,” she aids the individual in seriously considering the value of the things he or she has accumulated. “When sorting, I suggest people use the criteria of whether they ‘love it or need it,’” she said. “We try to limit the unsettled amount, because that creates the ‘Tara Syndrome’ and if you act on it today, there is no need to think about it tomorrow. The method works especially well when a diggings has become the repository for the previous generation’s keepsakes. Although parting with photos, report cards, newspaper clippings and other mementos may be nit-picking for the family-appointed memory keeper, the question is “will our children cherish this. 1 2 See Full Story Beginning with the foyer, Jumper presented tips for each dwelling. When one enters the house, mail should be sorted immediately, with items placed in an action file, trashcan or shredder. Clearing the register, washing the dishes or placing them in the dishwasher after every meal and insuring the items on the countertop are only the ones used regularly makes the kitchen inviting. Storing foods by category, boldly marking the expiration dates and partitioning the scrap drawer keep the room tidy. Jumper offered similar schemes for the living/family room (keep plane surfaces clear, designate places for children’s toys) and bedrooms (make the bed, contribute seldom-worn clothing, shoes and handbags, de-olla podrida drawers). She also provided a list of donation sites, re-sale shops and recycling locations. While she noted the most demanding aspect is maintaining the newly-learned organizational skills, the result is a space, no matter the size, that is easy to guide. “Being organized makes your house say ‘welcome,’” said Jumper. “Things are put in the same place every single everything every day and it becomes routine. Donna Jumper, of JumpStart Organizing, provides home, home office and photo organizing and touching assistance.
